Aim: Eradication of Anaemia
in the students of Ch. S.D. St.
Theresa’s Autonomous College for Women, Eluru
1.Awareness
Talk:

“Adolescent and youth problems” by Dr. K. Chandra Sekhar, professor, ASRAM Medical college, Eluru.
He gave motivation on the importance of health check up to the students.

2.Health
Camp: July13th & 14th July 2015
A Health camp organized in the
campus by the Dept. of Zoology in association with ASRAM Hospital for all the
students and faculty. 10 Doctors and 20 technicians came and gave their
services in the fields like Dental, Ophthalmology,
ENT and general Medicine and also
conducted diagnostic tests like blood grouping, Hb ,B.P, Height & weight
for all the participants. About 800 students and staff participate and avail
medical service. This is for the project work of final year students and also
the screeing for STARS programme. (St.Theresa’s
Arogya Rakshita Scheme).

On 31-8-15, a Guest Lecture was given by Dr.
G. Srinivas, professor, General Physician, ASRAM medical college, Eluru on the topic “Anaemia” to all the students to gave
awareness and to take necessary steps to control Anaemia.

Treatment under Anaemia eradication programme:
20-8-2015- Anaemia
eradication programme under STARS
launched by the Dept of Zoology. Sr.Principal gave iron medicines &
devorming tablets (Albendazole) to 77
anaemic students. Tablets distributed to different departments – chemistry,

iron tablets and Albendazole tablets were supplied by Dr. Sunanda, DM&HO, W.G.Dt.

5.Multivitamin
Treatment: 9-11-15 & 10-11-15 Sr. Principal handed
over Multivitamin Chewable Tablets to our students. Dept members distributed
vitamin A chewable tablets to all students through ward tutors.These tablets were sponsored by Dr.G.Srinivas,
M.D. general, professor , ASRAM Medical college, Eluru.

B.Vocational and III BZC students
regularly conducted Hb testing to all the students of our college to identify
the Anaemic Problem in Students

Health Camp: 27th & 28th
July 2016:
Mega Health
camp conducted in association with the ASRAM hospital for all students, f aculty, supporting staff of our college. 15 doctors and 15 technicians came from
General Medicine, Ophthamology, ENT, Dermatology, Gynecology,Dental etc.
-About 1100
students and faculty, supporting staff benefited.
-Dr.Sr.Mercy, principal, Sr.Showrilu Vice principal,
Sr.suneela Rani controller of examinations, sr.magdhalene, warden visited and
wished the Department members and Doctors .
Paper

and G.Suneeta published a paper on “A study on Body mass
index among college students and its association with anaemia and hypertension.” In Indian
Journal Of Public health & Research Development (IJPHRD)
3.Support from STARS : Anaemic students will get the iron containing nutrition
daily with the support of STARS.
C).
NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation) Exam conducted
for III B.Voc. Students by Mr. Madhukar
from Hyderabad and Mr.Anjan kumar , Dr. Ramesh hospital, Vijayawada.
D)Internship/Placements:
III
B.Voc students joined as On job Trainees
in Nexgen Feed Company, Bommuluru for a period of VI semester
from 16-9-2016. They are conducting Feed collection from the load,
estimation of all chemical, physical parameters like moisture, protein,
carbohydrate, fat, microminerals etc.
E)Student exchange
programme:
2013-2014 and 2014-2015:
Faculty of Zoology
conducted practicals for Government Degree College, Eluru during the academic
years 2013-2014 and 2014-2015.
5-4-2016 TO11-4-2016: -III BZC project students trained and worked
in potable water analysis at SWAN Centre, Sir CRR Engineering College,
Eluru .2 -III BZC students trained in potable water analysis at RWS Department,
Eluru ( Rural Water Supply)
F)II BZC students trained in Sericulture unit at Vegiwada
